Photographs that were commissoned by the Rijksmuseum and NRC Handelsblad.
Sundays used to be the Lord’s day and a day of rest for many people. Nowadays a large part of the population spends their Sundays in leisure activities or shopping. The economy is almost at full speed because all of the people who are shopping and dining and taking part in leisure activities must be served.
But there are still people who go to church, visit their families and take walks on the beach or, at last, have time to read the newspaper and its supplements. The show was in the Rijksmuseum, the book was published by Thomas Rap and De Verbeelding.
